Soraya-Soraya is the daughter of General Sahib Teheri.  I think she is a flat character in the story. She is pretty stereotypicial of what happen in her culture and she is a minor character. Amir thought of her like a princess.  She had a sickel-shaped birthmark.  Soraya had ran away with an Afghan man when she was eighteen years old.  She had lived with this man for a month.  She was not married to him.  Because of this shameful act Soraya had no suitors.  In her culture it was alright for a man to act in this way, but not a woman.  This act brought shame among the family.  Soraya was a hard working decent woman who won the heart of Amir and they were married.  Soraya decided that she was ready to have a baby, but inspite of all the tries and doctor's visits, she failed to get pregnant.  The doctor advised adoption.  Soraya felt strongly about not wanting to adopt.  She was told by her father to be happy with her health and good husband.
